Wisconsinites rush to buy lottery tickets amid $1.9 billion jackpot

One lucky winner could win the world's biggest Powerball prize. It rose to $1.9 billion.

Thanks to the record jackpot, people rushed to their nearest gas station to pick up the winning numbers.

Kwik Trip Assistant Store Leader Sarah Schabel says the surplus of people with a short staff is difficult.

Wisconsin Lottery Marketing Communications Manager Shannon Ward says that while there were no jackpot winners over the weekend, some Wisconsinites did get lucky.

“On Saturday alone in Wisconsin- there were five $50,000 winners,” Ward said.

The winner of  $1.9 billion can receive a cash prize of $929.1 million or  the entire prize for life.

The retailer who sold the ticket would also be awarded $100,000,” Ward said.
