Compared with inactive people, those who walked for at least an hour a week had a 0% lower risk of death and a 39% lower risk of dying from heart problems during the study period, according to the study. result.

Study participants were part of Korea’s National Wellness Examination Program from 2009 to 2014 . The team grouped the participants according to the amount of time they spent each week walking slowly. Of the nearly 3,000 participants who walked at a slow pace each week, one-third said they were also doing moderate-intensity or vigorous-intensity physical activity, the researchers found.

The study will be presented on Sunday at the European Society of Cardiology meeting in Barcelona. Results presented at medical meetings should be considered preliminary until published in a peer-reviewed journal.
