The actor famously played the wizard Harry Potter on the big screen and has proved a dab hand at magic in real life as he teamed up with celebrity illusionist Dynamo to learn card tricks for his role in the 2016 film ‘Now You See Me 2’.
The ‘How I Met Your Mother’ actor is a multi-talented star. As well as acting and singing, he can perform magic too. He even served as the President of the Board of Directors at Hollywood’s Magic Castle. He said: “I love magic because it provides an opportunity to do something that people feel is otherworldly, something that they don’t normally see, or can’t normally figure out in their own life.”
The late boxer is widely regarded as one of the greatest sportsmen of all time but also had a passion for sorcery. The fighter’s love of the craft was so great that even hired a personal magician to travel with him and teach him magic tricks.
The actor played the legendary escapologist Harry Houdini in the 2014 miniseries ‘Houdini’. The role was a dream come true for the star as he had an interest in Houdini and learned the magic trade as a child.
The ‘Fantastic Beasts’ star also has a passion for magic away from the screen and was obsessed with the practice growing up. He told US talk show host Jimmy Fallon: “I was embarrassingly into magic as a kid. You know how kids have magicians at their birthday, but normally until about the age of eight [or] nine, maybe pushing it [to] 10 [or] 11? At age 15 I still had [magicians]. No one came to the parties, but I was still inviting magicians.”
The British comedian and actor was made a member of The Magic Circle in 2015 and was presented with his membership during an episode of the TV series ‘QI’ and posted on Twitter that he was “so excited he could wee”.
The former Formula One driver, who won the world championship in 1992, took up magic after suffering a horrific crash at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2010. Mansell said that the craft helped his recovery as it made his “brain work in different ways”. He has since joined The Magic Circle and has performed tricks on various racing shows.
The comedy legend is also accomplished when it comes to magic. His first job was in a magic shop at Disneyland and he blended sorcery with humour in the early stages of his career. He has also performed skits as the magician The Great Flydini.
The British monarch is the best-known member of The Magic Circle and joined in 1975 after performing a cup and balls trick. Charles was invited to the society by his great-uncle Earl Mountbatten, who was a member himself. To mark his 70th birthday in 2018, a special magic show aired on TV with the royal, as well as a number of celebrities and magicians, in attendance.
The actor and comedian is famous for ‘The Arsenio Hall Show’ and ‘Coming to America’ but was once an aspiring magician. He recalled how finishing second in a magic competition set him on the path to fame after an older magician told him to “talk for a living”.
